Messy Masterpiece Workshop

Healing Through Art: Writing and Watercolor Painting to Process Grief*

Facilitated by Jan Haag (Writer, Author) and Meghan Thimjon (Artist)

In this transformative workshop, we will explore grief through two powerful creative outlets: writing and watercolor painting. Designed for anyone navigating the complex emotions of loss, this session offers a compassionate space for self-expression and healing.

We will begin with guided writing exercises to reflect on personal experiences with grief, allowing participants to articulate their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Writing helps to unlock memories, release unspoken feelings, and gain clarity.

Next, we will transition to watercolor painting, using the fluidity of water and color as a way to visually express emotions that may be difficult to put into words. The gentle, meditative nature of watercolor encourages mindfulness, helping participants process grief through color, texture, and movement.

*No previous experience in writing or painting is necessary—this workshop is about the process of expression, not perfection. By the end, participants will leave with both written reflections and visual art pieces that serve as personal mementos of their journey toward healing.

Join us for a day of creative exploration where writing and painting become tools for understanding, processing, and honoring grief.

Light refreshments & snacks will be provided.
